SVC mAIke Artificial Intelligence Assistant
The SVC is excited to announce the deployment of artificial intelligence to enhance and expand the SVC stakeholder experience.
Partnering with Betty.ai, an innovative leader in AI applications for professional societies, we’ve developed a Large Language Model (LLM) that has been trained exclusively on SVC data to bring a new dimension to how members and stakeholders interact with us. BCC Research, our partner for market research applications, is also integrating the technology from Betty.ai, ensuring a seamless transition and shared innovation between our respective organizations.
Fittingly, we named the AI model “mAIke” in honor of Michael Andreasen. Michael passed at 6:15 AM on Monday, September 2, 2024, leaving behind a legacy that we can only hope to aspire to. to aspire to. To so many in the SVC, Michael was a friend, colleague, and mentor. Not only did Michael embody the soul and spirit of the SVC but he set an example to us all on how to live a life well. Without Michael’s years of service, the SVC as we know it would not exist. Michael was one of the original ingredients of our “secret sauce”. It is only fitting that the SVC’s AI agent is fondly named after him!
mAIke has been trained on the SVC digital library which contains over 3,000 SVC Proceedings submissions dating back to 1991. The contents of the SVC’s main website and the SVC TechCon website, along with all SVC publications including SVC Bulletins that date back to its’ inception in 2004 also reside in the knowledge base. For good measure mAIke has also been trained on the SVC Foundation’s website. mAIke is conversant in 57 languages: allowing us to bring the SVC to a whole new group of international technologists!
In essence, mAIke knows all things SVC.
Testing has been extensive, but we’ve also incorporated the ability for any user to provide feedback if you think the question could be answered in a better fashion. mAIke learns from this feedback to make subsequent answers better! Information for queries is prioritized chronologically so there is an incentive to present and document at the SVC TechCon so your contributions are prioritized and assimilated into what we hope is an evolving and growing SVC knowledge base. Since mAIke’s training has been restricted to purely existing SVC data, you may find that there are some subjects that the SVC is not yet “fluent and authoritative” in and that will reflect in the answers that are returned. But don’t fear, mAIke is not bashful about letting you know that as well! The SVC’s ongoing efforts to increase the depth and breadth of the subjects covered at our TechCon will mesh perfectly with mAIke’s capabilities. Think about it: if you present at the SVC TechCon and then subsequently publish that presentation in the SVC Proceedings, your work is then assimilated into our knowledge base that mAIke accesses. If there wasn’t a compelling reason for our stakeholders to present and publish in the past there surely is now!
Is there a cost to use mAIke? No. If you are an SVC member, you have unlimited access to mAIke in the members-only area. If you are not an SVC member, you are limited to one query per day. Can there be a better reason to become an SVC member or presenter? Maybe that’s a good question for mAIke.
